Record of struggle
The Sozialistische LinksPartei (Socialist Left Party) is the CWI's party in Austria. It's members are young, active and ready to fight. Although a young party, the SLP has a long record of struggle.
Our comrades played a leading role in the resistance movement against the FPÖ coming to power in 2000.
School students' strike
Together with the then School-Students Action Platform (SAP) (now "Socialist Resistance International" SWI) we initiated the campaign for a school students' strike against Haider in 2000; 15,000 took to the streets on 18 February 2000.
Campaigns
We have led and been involved in campaigns
- against racism,
- against the Freedom Party,
- against social cuts and wars,
- for the rights of women and
- in support of workers' struggles and for international solidarity.
Because of our campaign for womens' rights we have been taken to a court by religious fundamentalists of the so-called "pro-life"-movement.
New workers' party
The SLP is the only force in Austria struggling for a new independent socialist workers' party. To build such a party is not only necessary but possible. Such a party will emerge from struggles of the working class and will have many different left and socialist ideas represented within it.
Elections
The SLP will stand in this September’s early general elections in Vienna. We see these elections as an opportunity to present the revolutionary ideas of socialism to broader layers of workers and youth.
While we welcome the collapse of the "blue-black"-government, all the established parties will make further cuts and lead to the strengthening of far right populist forces like Haider.

The SLP is an organisation open for anyone to join who is interested in a socialist revolutionary transformation of society.
We want to win workers, youth, women, immigrants and trade unionists for the struggle against exploitation and oppression, for the struggle for a socialist society!
