Maavak Sozialisti (Socialist Struggle), is a fighting socialist organisation. We intervene in the struggles of Israeli workers against the increasingly savage attacks of big business. We run a campaign against the manpower agencies, which have become a key weapon in the hands of the employers to divide workers and undermine their rights. We publish a quarterly paper HaMaavak (The Struggle) which exposes the veiled dictatorship of 15 families over the Israeli economy, media and politics.
Together with trade union activists, we participated in the formation of Am Ehad (the workers party) to provide a working class alternative to the parties of big business. The national question in Israel and Palestine forms an important part of our programme, analysis and activities. We have explained since 1993 that the Oslo agreement would not bring stability to the region because it did not answer the Palestinian masses aspirations for a homeland nor the security fears of ordinary Israeli Jews.
We have consistently explained that the Palestinian masses and the Israeli Jewish working class would never achieve genuine stability and prosperity as a result of the capitalist peace process which Oslo represented. We argue for the overthrow of Israeli capitalism and the Arab elites in the Middle East through a revolutionary struggle by the working class and oppressed masses of the region. We campaign for such a movement to be committed to the objective of a socialist Palestine and a socialist Israel as part of a voluntary socialist confederation of the Middle East - a voluntary association of different socialist states where all the rights of ethnic, national, and religious minorities would be guaranteed.
