Russian Revolution 1917
The 1917 Russian revolution, when the working class and peasant majority
succeeded, for the first time in history, in transforming society,
abolishing capitalism and landlordism, still stands as the greatest even
in human history for socialists and Marxists. The event led to a wave of
struggle and revolution, throughout Europe and beyond, putting the idea
of a socialist world firmly onto the agenda. The CWI stands firmly in
the tradition of the Bolshevik Party of Lenin and Trotsky, in fighting
to build a revolutionary socialist international in the 21st century.
For those fighting to change society today, the experience of the
Russian revolution, and its subsequent tragic Stalinist degeneration, is
rich in lessons.
