A large proportion of the nearly 1,000 socialists at Socialism 2025 were young workers and students, many attending for the first time. The Socialism 2025 weekend, 15-16 November, in London brought together working-class campaigners, students and socialists to discuss how the crisis and chaos of the capitalist system can be ended and replaced by a socialist society based on democratic planning and cooperation.
41 different workshops and two rallies offered a chance to discuss the momentous events developing in this new era of capitalist crisis. World events have been marked in the last year by mass uprisings against capitalist regimes, military coups, and political polarisation.
Socialism 2025 helped to politically clarify the significance and meaning of these events, as well as to assess the opportunities opening up for socialists.
The confident and defiant Saturday night rally discussed ‘How can Your Party be a party of working-class struggle and socialism?’ A record £61,895.50 was pledged to fund the fight for socialist change, a huge vote of confidence in the ideas being discussed.
