Nothing could more clearly demonstrate the toothless nature of the United Nations (UN) than its ineffectual posturing over the humanitarian crisis in the Darfur region of Western Sudan.
Once again, our TV screens are filled with images of destitute African villagers, emaciated with starvation, their faces contorted with grief and terror.
The crisis gripping Darfur, in western Sudan, has been prominently in the news for weeks now.
