“Green shoots” of economic revival?

This week saw the announcement by Alistair Darling, British Chancellor of the Exchequer (Finance Minister), of the New Labour government’s budget for 2009. The budget was announced amid speculation by some that “green shoots” were visible in the world economy, signalling the beginning of the end of the world economic crisis. However, as Peter Taaffe, General Secretary of the Socialist Party (CWI in England & Wales) explains in the video below, the vicious cuts outlined in Darling’s budget reveal the reality of the situation, as workers and young people are made to pay for the still raging capitalist economic crisis.
