Sri Lanka: Rajapakse government condemned in European trade debate

Tamil solidarity case forcefully put by Tamil Solidarity coordinator

On Thursday 14 January, the European International Committee on Trade heard powerful evidence of gross human rights violations by the Rajapakse government which warrant trade sanctions. Warnings were also made of further abuses, whichever of the two main candidates wins the presidential election. The importance of a campaign for genuine democracy was stressed and backing urged for Siritunga Jayasuriya and the United Socialist Party.
